IT Initiates Responsible E-Waste Disposal Program

Entrego started off its first e-waste disposal through Globe's E-waste Zero program.

Intending to contribute to Entrego’s sustainability goals, our IT  Team recently started responsible e-waste disposal, in partnership with Globe. The first e-waste haul last 19 February 2022 was for 300 e-waste items which include laptops, printers, barcode scanners, barcode printers, desktops and UPS, and weighs almost one thousand kilograms (1000 kg). All items were picked up by free transport at our Sortation Centre (LTI) and sent to Globe’s e-waste recycling partner.

This program aims to promote safety management, and recycling of waste electronic equipment and contribute to resource conservation, was made possible with the help of HSE, Facilities, Security and Loss Prevention, Sortation, Finance, Vendor Management, and Sustainability teams.

Mr. Murphy Dalde, IT Network and Infrastructure Head, commented, “Entrego as a tech-driven logistics is not just a technology user, but a responsible technology user. Our 'MALASAKIT' is not only for people, but it also extends to the environment. We look forward to more initiatives that will enable Entrego to be more involved in responsible consumption and disposal of technology devices."

Recycling is always a shared responsibility. Guidelines for Entrego employees and partners for their e-waste disposal will soon follow. In the meantime, Globe's 00 drop-off points nationwide for E-waste are available.

Proceeds from our e-waste donation to Globe will be used to help provide learning devices and connectivity support to selected public school teachers and students.
